More events are cancelled
Planned rallies and running days are continuing to be cancelled as organisers take account of the government restrictions to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
The Derbyshire Beer & Buses event and the Peak Park Preserved Bus Gathering, provisionally postponed to the weekend of 5/6 September, has now been cancelled.
The organisers have taken this decision mainly because the UK government has indicated that gatherings of more than 30 people may still be illegal then, but say that partner organiser Peak Rail does not yet know if it will be operating trains then. Even if it is, train rides would need to be booked in advance, so would not be available on the day. And social distancing would need to be operated on the preserved buses.
They plan to hold the next Peak Park Preserved Bus gathering on Sunday 20 June 2021.
The Aycliffe & District Bus Preservation Society has cancelled its rally at Locomotion, Shildon, Co. Durham on 23 August but hopes to stage one again in August 2021.
The Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum has cancelled the Models Weekend planned for 19/20 September as such indoor events are impractical in present circumstances. The museum remains closed at present and will decide at a board meeting on 8 August if it can open in 2020. If it does, the September weekend will be a basic Trolleyday weekend.
The South Yorkshire Transport Museum in Rotherham will remain closed for the rest of this year and says it is almost certain that it will be closed into 2021, possibly until March. Events days planned between September and December have all been cancelled.Back to News
