Wirral Bus & Tram Show is cancelled

The organisers of  the Wirral  Bus & Tram Show, scheduled for Sunday 4 October, are the latest to cancel an event in view of the continuing coronavirus pandemic.

Organising committee member Bill Barlow says this has been driven by a series of factors. “The lockdown could last much longer than we are hoping. Social distancing would be impossible in the museum and on the trams, and we depend on many volunteers to make the show happen and don’t want to put any of them at risk.

“We would normally start planning from April onwards and commit to pay for suppliers and services we have on the day.  It is best to make the decision now, so that everyone knows where they stand. The museum is a Wirral Council building and the decision on when to reopen it is its to take.

“We also have an unusually high age profile and several of our volunteers are in their 70s.  As a volunteer based organisation, we have a duty of care to all our members.”
