UK Coach Rally cancelled for first time in 67 years

The UK Coach Rally, planned for Blackpool on the weekend of 18/19 April, is the latest casualty of the coronavirus pandemic.

The organisers confirmed this evening that they have had to cancel what would have been the 66th rally since the first in Clacton in 1955. This will be the first year that the rally has not been staged. In 1957, fuel rationing occasioned by the Suez Crisis led to it being held in London rather than a coastal resort.

Coach Displays’ Ann Cousins says that the Imperial Hotel in Blackpool will transfer bookings to 2021 when the delayed 66th rally returns to the Lancashire coast. The dates for next year’s rally should be announced within the next two weeks.
