Go South Coast has officially launched a new fleet of 16 Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC double-deckers for its Southern Vectis fleet serving the Isle of Wight.
It will run the new vehicles primarily across its routes 2 and 3. “We are incredibly proud of our new vehicles. And this is good news for both commuters and leisure passengers wishing to travel across the island,” says Southern Vectis general manager Richard Tyldsley.
“Customers here have been very clear about the enhancements they want to see on this popular service and we have listened to them. On-board technology includes USB charging points for smartphones and hand-held devices.
“All of our new vehicles are also greener than ever – with Euro6 engines helping to reduce harmful emissions.
“In fact, we have invested more than £3.7million in these buses for our 2 and 3 routes – and we’re looking forward to seeing them out and about, transporting those who use this service while living on or visiting the Isle of Wight.”
One of the 16 has been evaluated by Go-Ahead Group’s Brighton & Hove company while Go South Coast has tried out the two-door layout of one of the Brighton company’s latest Wright StreetDecks in its Bluestar operation in Southampton.
