Stagecoach South West yesterday celebrated its investment of £5million in new double-deckers for Torbay with a spectacular photo opportunity involving all 22 vehicles lined up along Paignton Seafront.
All the buses — Scania N250UDs with Alexander Dennis Enviro400 bodies — have high-backed leather effect seats, free WiFi and USB charging with 17 dedicated to the company’s flagship Hop12 bus route serving Brixham, Paignton, Torquay and Newton Abbot up to every 10min, seven days a week.
Local dignitaries attended the photo opportunity and also enjoyed the chance to appreciate the revised livery design and plush new interiors. They are painted in a two-tone red and white version of Stagecoach corporate livery.
Bob Dennison, Managing Director at Stagecoach South West, says: “It was quite a sight to see all the buses parked along the seafront. The new fleet represents a significant investment for Stagecoach in Torbay and Newton Abbot and we were keen for the launch to coincide with the start of seasonal shopping. The customer experience is very important to us and we hope the new buses enhance our passengers’ enjoyment of all the Bay has to offer this Christmas and into the New Year.”
To celebrate the arrival of the new buses, Stagecoach has teamed up with Babbacombe Theatre with a local competition to offer three pairs of tickets to a 29 November performance of Christmas is Magical, a family variety show featuring magic, comedy and music.
