Aireline takes off for Leeds

A new fleet Optare Versas, with features inspired by feedback from regular customers and branded as Aireline, entered service on Sunday on The Keighley Bus Company’s seven-day route 60 linking Keighley, Saltaire, Shipley and Leeds every 30min. They follow on from last month’s launch of new Optare Solo SRs for the Jets-branded town service network in Keighley.

Features of the Versas include:

  • Specially created audio announcements on board, delivered in an authentic Yorkshire accent, featuring Eric Scaife of the Yorkshire Dialect Society, who was selected after the operator launched its own quest to find the perfect Yorkshire voice for its new buses
  • Audio announcements linked to a visual display on board
  • Fast and free 4G WiFi
  • USB power points at every seat
  • Wireless charging for compatible mobile devices
  • Comfortable seating with leather headrests
  • More legroom
  • Mini tables at selected seats
  • Double glazing
  • A skylight roof
  • A bigger waste bin
  • An illuminated Aireline logo on the front
