Go-Ahead Group-owned Bluestar has launched a new initiative aimed at encouraging more local people to work within the transport industry.
The local bus operator is working with MP for Eastleigh Mims Davies to build long-term relationships with community organisations – like charities and housing associations in a bid to attract new local talent.
“We are always on the look-out for local individuals who have the potential to become valued members of our team here at Bluestar,” says Bluestar operations manager, Paul Coyne.
“There are many opportunities within the bus industry for those who may not have even considered a career with us in the past. Bluestar offers a diverse selection of roles for new employees to consider. As well as driving roles, we employ an award-winning engineering team and we wouldn’t be one of the region’s leading bus operators without our commitment to customer service.
“The aim is to discover new talent locally. If we are able to do that, we will provide all the training and development our new employees need to advance their careers here with us. In turn, this of course will be hugely beneficial to our own business – and the wider community in Eastleigh.
I’m delighted that Mims Davies has given her time to discuss this initiative and provide some direction and we are looking forward to developing partnerships over the coming months.”
Mims Davies added: “Since 2010 people seeking work across my constituency has reduced dramatically with a reduction of 60%. Therefore it’s really important for those looking for work or a change of career are aware that Bluestar are offering great opportunities in their business. The operator is a huge success story for Eastleigh and as a result needs more drivers to come forward.
“I would encourage anyone, from any background, to get in touch about this opportunity where meeting the public and making a difference really matters. I applaud the company for being so pro-active in searching for new recruits to join their driving ranks in this growing and successful local business.”
